While the American automobile industry was going through the Antique, Vintage and Classic Car Eras other countries were going through similar growth periods.
England produced vehicle like the Aston Martin, Bentley, Land Rover and Vauxhall; while France built vehicles like the Peugeot, Citroen and Renault; and Italy made the Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, Fiat and Lamborghini; Germany produced the Volkswagen, Audi and BMW; Japan made the Toyota, Nissan-(Datsun), Mazda and Honda; while a variety of other countries were developing their own Antique, Vintage and Classic cars and trucks.
Muscle cars became popular in the 1960's when manufacturers realized that light weight cars with big engines were fun to drive.
The Muscle Car Era ended in the 1970's when pollution control devices reduced resulted in a loss of horsepower and a gasoline embargo increase the price of high octane fuel.
