Smith's Antiques
Smith's Antiques was established in 1959 by Kenneth C. Smith, a native of Sumerduck. He began his enterprise as the owner of a small country store, during which time he became interested in antiques. Over the years as his interest grew, Kenneth decided to sell antiques exclusively, and moved the business one mile down the road to its current location.

He built the main shop on a property that he had purchased earlier, upon which also stood the historic 1880's three- room schoolhouse which Kenneth attended as a boy. As the business grew Kenneth started to specialize in oak. He originally purchased his inventory at local auctions, seeking interesting and rare pieces. Later, as it became harder to find items locally, Kenneth began to travel to more remote locations, and to develop a network of resources from which to buy.

He soon became widely known as a reputable dealer of fine oak antique furniture. Kenneth was joined in the business by his daughter, Laura, in 1987. She continues to operate the business her father built offering quality oak furniture as well as custom refinishing services.
