Highlights

read more › Preservation of craftsmanship, character, history, and beauty is the ideology at Antique Beams & Boards. We scour the countryside in search of antiquated and unwanted structures in an attempt to reclaim and reuse as much as possible. Many old warehouses, mills, factories, barns, houses, and outbuildings built in the 1800's have either outlived their usefulness or become to costly to maintain. Instead of wrecking ball or excavator, or falling into a rotting heap, we take hammer and crowbar and carefully dismantle each building piece by piece to preserve all that went into its construction those years ago.

read more › Here at Antique Beams & Boards, we have the ability to process large commercial projects at one time due to our high volume of inventory. In the past, we have provided our reclaimed wood materials to Bass Pro Shops and Pottery Barn. We are currently putting together an email list of designers, home builders, architects, and contractors who may be interested in our materials now or some time in the future. We send various emails throughout the year reminding them of our products and services, and encourage them to include us in the design phase of their project.

read more › Ever wondered what it looks like when a barn is taken down piece by piece? We take you through the process as we carefully dismantle and remove a barn structure. We are extremely careful when removing and salvaging old pieces as if we are not, the pieces of the structure could be ruined. If you have any additional questions about our barn reclamation process, please feel free to call or email us at any time. Watch as we carefully remove and salvage barnwood from this century old structure. Quality product starts with careful removal of product, which is why we take extreme care when removing our structures.

Sizes range from 55's through 1414's in a variety of species including White Oak, Ash, Elm, Hickory, and Maple. We are equipped to handle antique beam packages ranging from just a single, to a few hundred individual hand hewn beams. We can custom cut, prep, and clean to fit most applications and have them ready to be installed in your home or business. Appearances available range from rustic heavy adz marks, to very refined hewn beams that were hand planed back in the day.

read more › Antique circle sawn wood beams carry the rich character of the past, but include a refined "circle-sawn" edge. A circular cut was made to create and size the beams, rather than a hewn or axe cut, creating a much cleaner but historic look after all of these years. Due to the character and history with all of our beams, circle sawn beams will all vary from barn to barn depending on the specific species used at the time. The surface of our circle sawn beams will range from a light brown patina to a dark brown patina, and range in a variety of species including White Oak, Ash, Elm, Hickory, and Maple.

We create our clean cut resawn beams by milling them from our hand hewn or circular sawn beams. We mill them by running them through our band saw to shave the top or the "old" side from the beam, and then we plane them and run them through a series of passes to ensure the beam is smooth and level, while still maintaining a perfect amount of age with your new beam. Our resawn beams are perfect for home owners or builders who are looking for a more modern look while still using reclaimed wood.

These structural members need to be covered up in one way or another. Depending on the size of the member, an original surface Hand-hewn or Circle-sawn antique beam can be hollowed (or canoed) to fit over the structural beam. Alternatively, we can hollow an original surface beam to reduce the weight so it can be used as a decorative element. Once done, it is impossible to tell that the structural element is not an authentic solid antique beam.

Custom Box beams, crafted from antique reclaimed wood, is a perfect complement to your home or business project. Box beams serve the same purpose as a Hollow-out Beam: to cover unsightly metal or wood support beams. A box beam is preferred in some applications because it uses less wood, making the beam an affordable, lightweight option. Every 3 sided box beam is handcrafted in our shop. The joints are lock mitered and the surface is antique stained (or custom stained) with the choice of Hewn markings or Circle Sawn marks.
